In Loving Memory ~
Sadly, June left us Wednesday June 15th, peacefully and with family by her side.
June was born in Kitscoty Alberta, and spent her young years in Lloydminster as the oldest of six children and the only girl.
She leaves behind two brothers (Doug and Garry), many nieces and nephews who loved their Auntie June, and four children: Beth (Dennis); Jean (Dennis); Robert (Gail); and Terry (Deb); eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
June excelled in school and also in music, completing the Toronto Conservatory music program as well as her grade 12, then a secretarial course which enabled her to work for the Department of Education in Edmonton during the war.
In 1945 her childhood friend Donald Miller came home from his RCAF service overseas, and they married just as he started medical school. They spent the next 30+ years raising 4 kids in the Comox Valley, as Don established and expanded his medical practice.
During that period June accompanied the Co-Val Choristers for over 20 years, played the organ at various churches, played in the local band, taught piano, and was an active volunteer.
Don and June separated in 1978 but June happily met and married Sid Belsom soon after, in 1981, and enjoyed his company for many years which included extensive travel all around the world, as well as visiting Hawaii annually. Sid unfortunately passed away in 2010.
As well as travelling, June enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, gardening, walking, swimming (she swam lengths until age 95), and continuing to play the piano.
Her favourite activity was spending time with her family, especially at the family cabin at Fanny Bay.
She was much loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
