Passed away peacefully at Cumberland Care Facility, joining his beloved wife, Ida.
Ken was born in Manchester, England, joined the RAF during World War II and trained as a pilot. He was stationed in Brandon, Manitoba when he met his future wife, Ida Mabel Johnson. Ida was in the RCAF and from Sicamous, British Columbia area.
Married 57 years, they enjoyed a long life, filled with much joy and little sorrow. As RCAF personnel Ken and Ida resided in many places, including England, Vancouver, Gimli, Ottawa, Greenwood and finally retiring to Courtenay in the Comox Valley. The Waterhouses enjoyed travelling, with family and after retirement with friends.
Ken’s life touched many, particularly in his flying career and enjoyed the warmth of many relationships with those of whom he worked or taught to fly. He also enjoyed boating and fishing and is well remembered by his sons for the wonderful times spent out on the water with their father.
In his later years Ken suffered Parkinson’s Disease. He was comforted by the wonderful, compassionate care provided by staff at the Cumberland Care Facility and his appreciative family.
Predeceased by Ida, May 29, 2000; left to celebrate his life are sons: Ken (Eileen), Ottawa, Richard (Pearl), Royston and Blair (Doris), Comox Lake. Also remaining are granddaughters: Patricia (Chris), Toronto, Caitlin and Olivia of Comox; sister Babs (Mike) of England, and brother Alan (June) of Ohio, USA.
A gathering of family and friends in Celebration of Ken’s life will take place on Saturday, February 15th, 2003 at 1:00 pm from COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 RYAN ROAD.
