LOOR, Laureen Mary (nee Frelone)
Laureen, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away July 15th, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox.
She was born in 1921 to Louis and Lena Frelone (Francioli). She spent her growing years in Cumberland, after which she graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Victoria. She married Frank Loor in 1944, and together raised their daughters in Cumberland and Royston.
Laureen always made time for the people she cared about, and enjoyed lifelong relationships with Cumberland friends and nursing classmates. She made those around her feel special with her friendly warmth and grace, and will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by Frank in 1979, but continued to cherish her time with her family and friends for another 33 years. She is survived by her brother Roy (Gert); daughters Cherri (Dennis) and Vicki (George); grandchildren Marni (John), Deborah (Blair), Sean (Kellie), and Erin (Daryl); great-grandsons Keegan, Lochlainn, Liam, Isaac, and Tait; an extended family, and many friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Berwick and WeCare and Dr. Swanson for helping Laureen to live independently these last 5 years after leaving her family home in Royston.
A small family gathering will be held at Laureen’s request. Those wishing to honour Laureen’s memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of choice.
