With heavy hearts we announce that Lee passed away at Glacier View Lodge after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia. In spite of the challenges, he maintained his dignity and sense of humor, a gentleman to the end.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 61 years, his children Judy (Mike), Gerry (Vicky) and Janice. He was also Grandpa to Doug (Emilie), Sean (Alicia), Brendan, Kim, Greg (Alex), and Carly. He was Great Grandpa to William, Xavier, and Ada. Also survived by sisters Denise, Marg (Frank), and Ruth. Predeceased by his parents Dennis and Frances, and sister Gail.
Lee was born in Edmonton and grew up in Trail BC. After graduation he joined the RCAF and served for 34 years. He was stationed at several bases across Canada and served with the United Nations Emergency Force in Italy. While in Claresholm AB he met Joan and they were married in 1958. Together they raised a loving family and finally retired to the Comox Valley in 1988.
Lee loved fishing, camping with family, and golfing. He had a life long passion for the bagpipes and was a member of the Courtenay Legion Pipe Band as well as the Comox Valley Pipe Band. Many happy winters were spent in Yuma AZ where Lee and Joan spent their days poolside, and evenings dancing and socializing with friends.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Glacier View Lodge, whose compassion and caring made our journey easier. No funeral by request. For those who wish, donations may be made in memory of Lee to the Alzheimers Society of BC.
