LILIAN EMILY

1923 - 2012

Lilian passed away peacefully on August 5th at Glacierview Lodge with her family by her side. Lilian was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, of 56 years, three brothers, George, Frank and Sid, and two sisters, Florence and Dorothy, and brother-in-law Donald. Surviving siblings are a brother Len in Australia and a sister Gladys in England.

Lilian was born in Farnborough, Hampshire, England, daughter of Victor and Sylvia. WWII became part of her life as Canadian troops were stationed in nearby Aldershot where she met and married Bill in 1945. The following year Lilian sailed to Canada on the Queen Mary as a British Warbride, settling in Edmonton, Alberta. Bill remustered into the RCAF. Their postings took them across Canada and to 3 (F)Wing, Germany. The couple retired in 1969 to Comox where Lilian began her volunteer work for St. Joseph’s Auxiliary, The Legion, Evergreen Seniors, Glacierview Lodge and D’Esterre House.

Surviving family members are her children Ross (Karen), Linda (Ed), Pam (Terry) and Celia, grandchildren Robert (Kate), Josephine (Deme), Scott, Stuart, Jarritt (Kristin), Jason (Jenn), and Jamie, great grandchildren Brianna (Mike), Recie (Shane), Emily, Darian, Kylie, Pescha, Marlo and Calia, great grandsons Damien and Acen, sister-in-law Ina, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the high standard of care and the support and love given to Lilian by the staff and volunteers of Glacierview Lodge. A special thanks to Dr. Neufeld.

A Celebration of Life is to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the B.C. Heart Association would be appreciated.

Mom and Nanny: Rest in Peace. We love you.
