FYFE, Margaret

Our much-loved Mom, Granny, G-G, and friend Margaret Eleanor Fyfe (nee Gibson) died on July 17 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mom has gone home to live in eternal peace with Jesus and will be reunited with loved ones that have gone before her.

She is survived by Myna-Gaie (Tom), Gordon (Pat), Betty-Anne, Bruce (Ellen), David (Irene), 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a sister and brother, numerous nephews and nieces. Mom had a wonderful sense of humour, was a cheerleader for each of us and a lasting role model for her family.

Margaret was born in Victoria, February 14, 1923. She worked in her father’s photography studio (Gibson’s Studio) until she joined the RCA in WW11. In 1943 she married Gordon Fyfe Sr. (deceased) and together they raised six children.

Mom was an avid outdoor enthusiast, gardener, photographer, reader and enjoyed listening to classical music. She loved children so she got her Early Childhood degree, and after moving to Comox, she started the Little Christian Daycare at Comox United Church.

Our family cannot thank Dr. Harris enough for his wonderful care of mom, which included home visits. Thanks also for the caring help from the VIHA and We Care workers and the many caregivers that stepped forward to assist mom. Mom’s amazingly kind and helpful Eagle Ridge family and church families helped her in so many ways to get through these challenging times.

Our mother invested her time in family and friends, rather than material possessions, and it has come back to reward her bountifully. She was surrounded by family and friends in her own home until the end.

Those wishing to honour Margaret’s memory may wish to make a donation to a charity of choice.

A service will be held at Bay Community Church, 1105 Pritchard Rd., Comox on Tuesday, August 7th, at 2pm with a reception to follow.
