Margaret Sarah Montgomery

February 18, 1924 – May 4, 2020
Marg passed away peacefully on May 4, 2020 at the North Island Hospital in Courtenay. She was predeceased by her husband Cecil “Cece” Benjamin Montgomery and her brother Victor Mayor. Marg is survived by her sons Kevin (Terri) Montgomery of Florida and Scott (Nooshin) Montgomery of Courtenay, daughter Lisa White (Daniel) of Queensland; grandchildren Tanis Montgomery, Alec White, Adrienne White and Angelina Patterson (Colton); great grandchildren Shep and Heli Patterson, sister Jean (Gordon) Jenkinson; nieces and nephews, Grieg (Carolyn) Jenkinson of Victoria, Gavin (Kari) Jenkinson of Victoria and many in BC, Alberta and Manitoba.
Marg lived her 96 years to the fullest including those spent with husband Cecil until his death in 1997. She grew up near Gladstone, Manitoba and in 1954 moved with Cece to start his general practice in Cumberland. If there was a club for Mom’s interest, she was part of it: NVIHA, CADORA, the Woolgathers Club, Royston Bridge Club, Comox Valley Curling Club, and Cumberland Recreation Institute. Marg loved everything she did and took on many new adventures throughout her life. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and had extensively researched our family trees. Marg was an active person – playing badminton in Cumberland for many years, an avid horsewoman and talented craftswoman as evidenced by the gifts we all received – quilts, leather work, paintings or knitting. Her knitted socks were a sought-after item! She was a great Bridge player who taught her grandchildren math skills by playing rummy and crib. She took up the bass guitar and ukulele to complete the band at the Seniors Home in her 80s. Marg welcomed all as friends and embraced many into our extended family. She renewed a number of Cumberland friendships during her time at the Comox Valley Seniors Village. A heartfelt thank you to all friends and staff at the Comox Valley Seniors Village.
Private cremation arrangements.
With her family spread across the world, the sun will never set on her legacy.
