ROWAT

Marian Helen

October 4, 1938 - March 12, 2009

Born and raised in Scotland and trained as a botanist at the University of Edinburgh, Marian charged through life at full steam. Marian’s occupations included raising three children, pension administration, marketing, forestry and other university research, nursing, teaching, instructing sailing, arranging flowers, and much more.

Marian had an inquisitive mind and a great spirit of adventure. Her interests ranged from travelling and classical music to canoeing, hiking, bicycling, gardening, sailing, playing the violin, reading, tennis and botany. Whether she was living in Edinburgh, Halifax, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Vancouver or Courtenay, she was an active member and organizer of many local groups.

Marian’s incredible determination and support from her wide circle of friends in the Comox Valley and around the world helped carry her through her long battle with cancer via primarily natural methods.

Marian is lovingly remembered by brothers Peter (Nona) and Robert (Garry), children Jane (Bob), Tania and Roy (Ruth), grandchildren Ian, Adam, Tasman and Sage, nieces Ruby, Lena and Karen, and nephews Jonathan and Andrew.

Please join us in a Celebration of Marian’s life at 2 pm on Thursday March 19, 2009 at Pier Bistro (formerly the Edgewater) at Comox Marina, 1805 Beaufort Avenue, Comox, B.C. Flowers welcome.
