March 15, 1937 - December 1, 2020
It is with supreme sadness we grieve the end of life of Marion Carmichael. Born in Nelson, BC in 1937, left the earth Dec. 1st, 2020.
Leaving to miss her are her daughters Sue Johnston (Mark Simonson) Deb Dewar (Ron Hunchiak) stepson Dave Carmichael (Coleen) and step daughter Mary Carmichael. Grandchildren Jon Pembroke, Dave Pembroke, Terri Newton, Craig Logan and Cole Logan and so proud to have 12 great grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents Evan and Marjorie Patterson, first husband Jack Dewar and beloved husband David Carmichael, her first born child, Steven Richard Dewar, son in law Lorne Johnston and sisters Marjorie and Roberta.
Mom's family would like to thank her doctors here in the valley and Eagle Park for their continued care and support. Her special girls (Charlene and Nancy) who treated her with the love and respect she so deserved.
Mom was very active in her community that she loved. Starting the Comox Pet Shop in the early 70's, the business thrived under her care. Animals were her tender spot. Her generosity continued serving on boards like Glacier View Lodge and Filberg Park and festival.
Mom was a committed member of Toastmasters, she was very proud to be instrumental in creating the Comox Toastmasters club and this also helped her earn the Distinguished Toastmaster Award. Continuing with her generosity were donations to non profits 4 R's Education Society, Lush Valley, Larche, Kitty Cat Pals, and the SPCA.
Other groups that benefited were Comosun College Dental Program, a bursary that supported Dental programs and those that needed a helping hand succeeding.
Smiles, the joy she received in seeing children get the surgery they need to correct cleft pallets a fund she and husband retired dentist Dave were passionate about.
Known as the cookie lady at Stevenson Place, Mom enjoyed new friendships and loved to go to the gardens and visit with friends and family.
Mom's love of family was immense and we all have some wonderful memories of special times like Kite Files, family barbeques, picnics and kiwi hunts.
Strong in her faith, Gods hands brought her home and relieved her of the heavy burden of dementia and failing health. Her spirit is now free and she can rejoice at seeing family and friends that passed before her.
