DWULIT, Mary (Maria)

Oct 14, 1921 – July 18, 2012

Maria was born in Chrewt, Poland on October 14, 1921 and immigrated to Canada in 1950. She leaves to mourn, her husband John of Tahsis, sons; John (Lori) of Maple Ridge, Bill of Tahsis and Don (Debbie) of Comox. Four grandchildren; Darcie of Port Moody, Katrina (Dav) Victoria, Nicholas (Jenn) and Mary all of Comox, Great-grandson Mischa Laurin, Victoria. She leaves her two best friends Marta and Ted Swider of Tahsis and her black lab Becky, who will miss her very much.

Maria, John and their two older sons; John and Bill settled in Tahsis, BC. Her youngest son Don was born in Esperanza, BC. She was a very strong matriarch who worked hard to give her boys a better life. Everyone knew Maria in the Village of Tahsis, she worked as a cook in the old restaurant by the original Movie Theatre and as a school custodian and knew every child in town and in return they all called her grandma. She loved children and her happiest times were when she had a child near her.

Mom’s favou rite saying was “My way or the Highway.” She has now done it her way and taken her Highway to a higher place.

Our family would like to give a very special, “Thank You,” to all the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, Campbell River Hospital, and the Tahsis Clinic. Thank you all for showing my mom your care and compassion. We wish to extend a special thank you to the Ambulance Crews in Tahsis, Gold River, and Campbell River for your quick responses and care.

A service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Courtenay on Friday, July 27th, 2012 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children’s Hospital, Vancouver, BC.
