Michael Joseph Stanton died peacefully at the age of 84 on August 10th, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, B.C. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 7th 1932, the son of James & Kathleen (Power) Stanton. He was educated in England and Montreal, had a 45-year career with Dominion Textile, followed by retirement to Denman Island and finally Courtenay, BC. Michael was predeceased by his daughter Catherine, brother Patrick, and daughter-in-law Jo Soutar. He is survived by his wife Diane Edgar, son Dan (Brenda), son Tim, sister Mary, and five grandchildren Christopher, Natasha, Kara, Izabella and Maia.
Michael was known for his wit, humour and charm. He is deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church at 1599 Tunner Dr, Courtenay, BC, on Tuesday August 23rd at 11:00 a.m. It will be followed by a Celebration of Life, including a luncheon in the church hall. Feel free to bring a story about Mike to share at the Celebration of Life. If you are unable to attend, you may send a story to the family to share on your behalf.
