Mom passed away peacefully on Christmas Morning at Discovery Harbour Care Centre in Campbell River, B.C.
Born in Vermilion, Alberta to Jack and Katie Blakely. Early in life, the family moved their milk cattle herd to Merville in the Comox Valley. With Mom, Dad and five sisters, they were welcomed to the local community. Milking cows, driving milk trucks and working in retail grocery stores kept her busy until she met and married Ray on July 19, 1944; had two sons, Murray and Don. They lived their lives between North Vancouver Island and wintering in the warm spaces of California and Arizona.
Predeceased by her Mom and Dad, Husband Ray Fontana, sisters – Laura Marsden, Rita Hodgins and Doris Munce.
Survived by sons Murray and Don, grandchildren Tania (Andrew), Toni (Mike), great grandchildren Haylee J. and Dawson and two sisters Kay Davidson and Jacquie Montgomery.
We would like to thank the givers at Berwick by the Sea and Discovery Harbour Care Centre for making Mom comfortable.
In lieu of a service, “Remember Muriel Often.”
