Knox, Norma Sharon

(nee McDonald)

June 5 1944 ~ December 21, 2014

Sharon was born in Melville, Saskatchewan and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After Sharon obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse License in Winnipeg and worked a short time, she and her 2 dogs drove to the Cowichan Valley where she worked in the Duncan hospital. Sharon broke her leg 3 weeks before Sharon and Roy were to be married. They did not want to postpone the wedding, so they decided to be the first couple to get married in the Nanaimo General Hospital with her leg in traction. After finishing her stay in NRGH, she then resided in the Comox Valley with Roy, where she called it her home.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, Norman and Lilian McDonald, sister Sandra Brock and niece Corryn McDonald.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband W. Roy Knox (43yrs) of Union Bay, BC. Her daughter Tammi Knox and her granddaughter Saskia Knox-te Winkel and her grandson Coleton te Winkel. She is also survived by her twin sons Darcy Knox and David (Brenda) Knox. Her sister Grace McDonald (Wayne Bellingham), brother Tony (Sharon) McDonald, foster sister Debbie Redsky. Niece Kim (Dan) MacAuley, and 3 great nephews and 1 great niece, and nephew Mathew McDonald. She is also survived by her mother in-law Erna Parrotto and sister in-laws Linda Parrotto and Lorna Samuels (Lester Dahl).

Sharon volunteered for many years at the local Well-Baby Clinics and Flu clinics. She was a member of the local Pythian Sisters for many years. She had also been a Comox Valley 4-H Leader and a Union Bay Girl Guide Leader.

She was an avid crocheter and knitter. She was well known for making her baby sweaters and baby blankets for many newborns. Sharon also enjoyed her cards – she played Crib, Cinch & Whist. She was also a great singer until 12 years ago when her health took a turn for the worse.

Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. She was a very big part of Saskia and Coleton’s lives. We would like to thank Dr. Gornall (retired), Dr. Burgess (Courtenay), Dr. Swiggin’s (Victoria) and Greg and staff at Living Room Pharmacy for all their great care.

Mom, you will be greatly missed by many.
