January 18, 1937 - April 15, 2020
Norman Robert Palmer passed away in his home on Denman Island, BC on April 15, 2020. Norm was born January 18, 1937. He was the only child of Sam & Vivian Palmer and dearly loved his Mom & Dad and took care of them until their passing.
Norm married the love of his life Joan (Pluym) and had a love that lasted until Joan's passing in 2004. Joan and Norm moved to Denman Island and built their dream home with the help of Joan's father, John (JP). They had many good times at "Palmer Paradise". Norm was the school bus driver on Denman for a number of years and made many lasting friendships.
Through the years Norm had several animals that were treated like his children; Christy, Tiny, Puss, and Morgan to name a few.
Norm enjoyed jazz music unlike anyone else. He loved to go to the Thatch on Friday evenings for a beer and fish & chips, soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying the live music from local musicians. He enjoyed a good chat and often a glass of homemade wine with his many friends and neighbours. He enjoyed talking with his cousin Ron or his niece Corrinne. They would often call to ask how about "those BC Lions" or to joke it was Norm's "turn" to call, usually followed by a hearty laugh, Norm would say "well I thought about it earlier".
Norm is survived by his cousin Ron, his niece Corrinne (Brian) and great-niece Cally (Jack) and many loving friends and neighbours. We all have special memories of Norm and know that he has been reunited with the love of his life Joan, his parents, and in-laws John & Teenie Pluym. Rest in Peace Norm. By Norm's request there will be no service. Memorial donations can be made to Denman Island United Church.
