April 25, 1945 – September 11, 2018
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ole Edliq from complications following a stroke. He left us with his loving wife Caroline at his side.
Ole was born in Denmark, moved to Canada in 1967 and spent 33 years in North Vancouver before moving to Courtenay in 2002. His passions were his family, his home and garden, his work and volunteering. He built the family home in North Vancouver and the present home in Courtenay with the love, dedication and attention to detail which marked everything he did. He was a meticulous craftsman, taking pleasure in designing, creating, fixing and repairing. He was very proud of owning and operating his own construction company for over 40 years. Time spent with family was his priority.
He adored his wife Caroline to whom he had been married for 49 years. Son Torben (Heidi), daughter Emily (Mitch) and grandchildren Haley, Ashley, McKenna, Paige, Jake and Zoe will miss him dearly. He also leaves sisters Lis and Eva, brother Arne, Aunt Jytte and other relatives in England and Denmark.
Everyone who knew Ole recognised his dedication to Search and Rescue. A Life Member of both North Shore and Comox Valley GSAR Teams, Ole was an avid searcher and tracker, responding to hundreds of calls throughout the province in his 42 years as a SAR member. He was awarded the BC PEP Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 and was a member of the BC SAR Training Committee. Sincere appreciation to all the medical staff in Courtenay and Nanaimo who cared for Ole.
Private cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at Crown Isle Golf & Country Club, Courtenay on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Details to follow. RSVP to email@example.com Memorial donations to your local rescue team would be greatly appreciated.
