Uncle Phil - Phillip Maurice Darbyson has passed away the 8th day of March 2018, at the age of 83 after a lengthy battle with dementia.

Phil is survived by his nephews Elliott Darbyson, Warren (Rhonda) Darbyson, Todd (Lisa) Darbyson, great nieces and nephews, Wayne (Lauren), Darnell, Marissa, Paige, Alivia, Dakota, and sister in law Janice Darbyson (Alan).

Phil is predeceased by his parents John and Irene Darbyson, brother Alan Darbyson and his faithful little companion "Pal".

Uncle Phil of "Phil's Cat Work" spent most of his working career running heavy duty equipment. His prized piece of equipment was a 1975 Caterpillar 941 track loader. He purchased the 941 new, worked it, maintained it and retained ownership of it to February 2017.

Phil enjoyed gardening, landscaping, building wood clocks, doing artwork, his church and the fellowship within. Phil also had an obsession with race boats and built one in 1974 that he called "Cuda". In his spare time, Phil could be found ripping up and down the Courtney River in Cuda. He shared this passion for speed on water with his brother.

Phil, along with his Dad and little dog Pal moved to the Comox Valley from Gunn, Alberta in the early 80's. Phil worked the 941 until he fully retired about 10 years ago to pursue his hobbies.

The family would like to extend thanks to the doctors and nurses that cared for Phil during his hospital stay early in 2017. Also, thank you to the staff at the Comox Valley Seniors Village for looking after our uncle so well.

Thanks to the staff and management of the White Spot in Courtney, Phil's favorite place to eat. And a very special thank you to Denis, Peter and Joanne for doing everything you have done for Phil during his illness. It is a direct reflection of the outstanding generosity of your time and effort that has enabled Phil to live in his home as long as he did. You have gone way above and beyond what friends/neighbours would ever do.

We (Elliott, Warren and Todd) are forever grateful to you.
