In Loving Memory ~

Phyllis Charlotte Hicks passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024, in Campbell River, BC, with her children at her side during her final days.

Born in Vancouver, BC, on March 9, 1932, Phyllis Charlotte Apps married the love of her life, John Wilbur Hicks (1930-2019), while teaching in Sechelt, BC, in 1953.

Her time was dedicated to raising her two children in logging camps along the coast and wintering in Sechelt and Vancouver, while pursuing her twin focuses of teaching and community service.

The family relocated to Campbell River in 1970, setting down roots in the community. Known for her quick-wittedness, humor, and sparkle, Phyllis touched many lives in her roles as a teacher, Girl Guide Leader, and member of the Anglican Church, and the ACW, as well as in the family business, Lucky Dollar grocery stores. She had a smile that made everybody feel better.

She is survived by her son, Philip (Linda); daughter, Diana; and loving grandchildren, Paige (Gabe) and lain.

The family invites Phyllis's friends and relatives to join them in a celebration of her life at St. Peter's Anglican Church on Saturday, April 20th at 2 p.m. to share stories and memories of this remarkable woman.
