Gordon was born in Winnipeg in 1933, worked for Air Canada for 25 years and moved to Courtenay in 1977 were he made this his home. Gordon loved to fish and the Island was the perfect spot for him. Gordon could usually be seen with a cold beverage in his yard listening to all his birds that he raised for many years, and admiring his ponds full of Koi he had worked so hard to build over the years.

Gordon was a lover of curling, both playing and watching on TV. Many days were spent at the Victoria curling club in Winnipeg as a younger man.
