Richard “Rick” William Roy Forster

April 24, 1944 – July 5, 2020
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Rick Forster on July 5, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Dorothy and his sister Kathy. Rick is survived by his loving wife Laurel, sons Rich (Tracy) and Brian (Diane), daughter Jeanette (Don), grandchildren Jon, Bryan, Amanda, Kayla, Courtney, Alyssa, Owen, Tessa and Jack, great grandchildren Aiden, Archer, Serina and Levi, sister Carolyn (Sandy), many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Rick served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 17 years. He was a member of Oyster River Enhancement Society, Comox Valley Flyfishers Club and a volunteer driver for Wheels for Wellness. His work history consisted of the Welders Union, construction and cabinetry finishing. In his leisure, Rick enjoyed fishing, fly-tying, golf, reading, and time with family. He was a helpful neighbour, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Rick was a caring man that would help anyone in need. He loved to talk and share stories. He adored his grandchildren and would often watch them play their sports.
A heartfelt thank you to Island Health, Nurses, Dr. Winter, and Comox Valley Funeral Home, who were all so caring and compassionate.
Donations in his memory to Wheels for Wellness or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
A family gathering in celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Rick, you will be greatly missed.
