In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Lawrence Engisch at the age of 80. Bob passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022 at Glacier View Lodge. His kind heart and willingness to always lend a hand when needed will be missed by many. He will be lovingly remembered by Margaret Engisch (Hertel), his beloved wife of 55 years, son Christopher, with whom he shared many diving adventures; grandchildren, Ella and Graydon and daughter-in-law Pauline (whom affectionately called him Bobby); as well as by his four-legged companion, Roxie. He will forever remain in the hearts of sister-in-law, Marlene Stefek; brother-in-law, Andrew Hertel; nieces, nephew, and their families.
Bob had a passion for travel and exploring the world and enjoyed many adventures with Margaret. While he travelled many countries, it was teaching in China that left an everlasting mark on his heart. Bob's appreciation for Chinese culture led him to learn the language, cuisine and history of the country. And you could almost always count on a hot pot when Bob was planning a special meal.
Closer to home Bob found joy in the people and place where he lived. He taught English at the Comox Lifelong Learning Centre and was involved in the Crown Isle community and strata. As an avid golfer and diver, he made the most of his hobbies for as long as could.
Thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Glacier View Lodge for the exceptional care and kindness that they extended to Bob and our family. Your compassion and thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated during a very difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
