In loving memory ~

Published author and prolific educator Dr. Robert (Bob) William Thompson quietly left us February 1, 2024. Robert was pre deceased by his parents Marjorie and Bill Thompson, his first wife June Watts-Thompson (step children Vicki, Debbie, Chris) and sister-in-law Norma-Jean Litt. Robert will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Mylisa, step children Taylor (Kate), Morgan, brothers, Al and Russ (Audrey), niece Bronwynn (Ian), great niece Lily, nephew Reece (Maddy), great nephew Issac, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues, good neighbours and our furry family Louis and Beansy.

Rob always loved a great story and his started December 13, 1953. As a youngster, Bobby was a bright light. He was naturally athletic, playing hockey, baseball, rugby and curling. He went on to be the 1971 BC Junior Curling Champion.

Robert attended SFU to earn a double BA in his deep love for History and Literature, especially Shakespeare. Rob's education career began in Comox in 1979 where his teaching blossomed at Highland Secondary School. Robert piloted the Provincial Tourism Program and the negotiations for the early entry Red Seal Dual Credit Program. During his career Robert was the School District Representative to the Chamber of Commerce and a Director of Tourism for the Comox Valley. Robert was an avid curler and sports fan throughout this time.

For the last decade of his career, Rob taught international graduate students in tourism/management at Royals Roads University. Then concluded his career teaching in the MBA Program at Vancouver Island University, while graduating with his PhD in Distance Education.

Dr. Rob's Celebration of Life will be held 1 pm May 11th at his sunset office in Kye Bay, Comox. Reception to follow.

Special thanks to Dr. Reggler, Rev. Sherri Ellis-Bell and Marianne in support of MAiD. A huge hug to our family, friends and neighbours for supporting Dr. Rob's peaceful and dignified passing.

Flowers gratefully declined suggesting donations to Alzheimer's Society of BC or contributing to the established Dr. Robert William Thompson education bursaries at Highland Secondary School.
