OLIPHANT - Robyn Margaret, slipped quietly away from us on October 6, 2008 at age 71. Her children Jonathan (Verena), Geoffrey (Krista), Helen (Steven) and her beloved sister Bev (Brian) and brother Chris (Gael) were blessed to be with her at the end. Robyn was able to die at home with dignity due to the help of many: the loving ministrations of Helen and Bev; the caring support of Dr Debra Wiens, nurse Janet and the other home care support workers, and; Helen and Steve's community of friends who helped out in so many ways. As a young woman Robyn was a free spirit who left her home in Newcastle, New South Wales and traveled the world before sailing on the Oriana to settle in Vancouver. She loved her work as a travel agent but gave it up after marrying Richard and dedicated her life to raising her three children, supporting Richard in his career, and in due course, doting upon her six grandchildren. Two years ago she moved to Courtenay, B.C. to spend more time with her grandchildren and pursue her golf, leaving behind many good friends in North Vancouver. Robyn lived well and loved well; our only wish was to have had more time to share with her. Robyn requested no service and we ask that any donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
