Mitchell

Ross McNair

June 26, 1955

~ October 13, 2009

Ross “Tink” (aka Rosco) Mitchell passed listening to Dead songs and with those who loved him. Ross was born in Vancouver, BC to the late Bob and Betty (McNair) Mitchell of Hardy Road, Courtenay. Graduated from G.P. Vanier in 1973. Ross worked in land surveying for over 35 years, first for G. Gordon Wagner Surveying and later, McElhanney Surveying and Engineering.

Ross loved being in the bush. He generously shared his vast knowledge of flowers, shrubs and trees. In 1981, Ross and Beth moved into the home on Hardy Road, in which Ross would continue to live for the rest of his life. Ross was a hell of a horseshoe player and won many of the annual tournaments.

Ross is survived by and will be dearly remembered by his Sons; Blair, Robert, Zack; and their Mother Beth Atkins. And by His Surrogate Sons & Daughter, Darren, Ryan, Tanya. Ross is also survived by his Grandson Ethan, Brothers Don and Larry (Dianne) along with many nieces, nephews, cousins. Ross is also survived by his Aunt Marjorie (Jim) Paterson and Uncle Archie (Pat) McNair.

The world has lost a DeadHead extraordinaire. ‘...listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul…’

Many thanks to the 3rd Floor staff at St. Joseph’s for their many kindnesses. Special thanks to Ross’ many friends who were so important to him and especially in the last days. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

As per Ross’ request, a Celebration of his life will be held at Grantham Hall on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 5:oopm.

“Think, Have a drink with Tink.”
