A celebration of Sandy's life was held by a group of her friends and family at the 'Gathering Place' in the Comox Valley hospital before and after her death. Sandy lived life to the fullest for five years during which time she had two surgeries and some radiation but remained up beat and had a compassion for everything and everyone.

Survivors include her Mom, Pierrette and her Dad, Bill from the valley as well as her brother Roger and his wife Cathy from Calgary and nephews Christopher and Nicholas from Calgary and Cold Lake and their wives Laura and Michelle and numerous cousins and pool player friend Don. Sandy accomplished much in her short life including a master's degree in clinical counseling paving her way to helping troubled individuals and families while working at VIHA in Victoria and the Comox Valley for 25 years. She was instrumental in promoting "The Pursuit of Excellence" program on the island. Wrote and published a "Best Seller" work book to help people regain their self esteem called "Hello You're Fabulous".

Volunteer was her middle name as attested by the many friends she had cultivated along the way even when her ailment tried to interfere. In sports she was fearless doing stuff like skydiving, parasailing and swimming with the dolphins. Her four-legged partner "Taiko" was with her always.

Sandy was reliable and punctual even towards the end with the help of her cell phone, the function of which, she mastered.

We will all dearly miss her smile and go to attitude. She never shied away from a microphone or a stage and reminds us of her first performance at the age of 4 when she sang "I'm just a pretty little Dutch girl, and am happy as can be."

We extend a heart felt appreciation to Dr. Tanya Daws for her service with dignity and sincerity.
