In Loving Memory ~
Sheila Suzanne Troiano (nee Hind) passed away peacefully in Comox B.C. on February 2, 2023, after a very brief illness and with her daughters by her side.
Sheila is survived by her daughters Jill Lachapelle (Scott) of Blind Bay B.C., Susan Troiano (Francesco Cioffi) of Calgary, her mother Suzanne Hind of Comox and her brother Wayne Hind of Grand Forks, B.C.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Jonah Lachapelle (Jessi), Chelsea Lachapelle (Connor Simmons), Jake Taylor, Julian Taylor, and nephew Stephen Hind (Sarah and daughter Evelyn). She is also survived by her good friend Stevie Gould of Comox.
Sheila was predeceased by her father, Harry Donaldson Hind.
Sheila was born on August 30, 1942 in Brighton, England and moved with her parents to Regina, SK in 1945, where she grew up. She moved to British Columbia in 1966, living in Nanaimo, Sooke, and Kelowna.
While in Kelowna, and until her retirement, she enjoyed a 24-year career at the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, helping contribute to Kelowna's unprecedented growth and development.
Following retirement, she moved to Comox in 2007 and remained active, enjoying numerous activities, including volunteering with the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Filberg Park. She participated in Tai Chi, Curves, and the Knitting "Needles" Group. Sheila was perky, energetic, and had a great fashion sense, as well as a typically British dry wit and sarcastic humour. She loved playing Scrabble and Euchre, and you were very lucky if Sheila was your Euchre partner.
In August 2022, Sheila and her family were able to celebrate her 80th birthday together in Vancouver.
The family would like to gratefully thank and acknowledge the expertise, kindness, and grace of the staff at North Island Hospital Comox Valley and the Ocean Front Village Hospice. Sheila's family is planning to have a memorial service for her in Comox in the springtime, with details to follow.
Those who wish to express their sympathy may consider making a donation to the Ocean Front Village Hospice or Wheels for Wellness.
