MADEIROS, Shirley Bethea
passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 30th at the age of 78.
She was born to Bessie and William Robb in Toronto, Ontario where she spent her childhood.
In 1953 Shirley met the love of her life, Harold, and they married a year later. They spent the next 15 years in Toronto raising their 3 children, Heather, Jim and Wendy. In 1968, Harold and Shirley with their young family, returned to Harold’s birthplace, Bermuda. In 1992 they returned to Canada and settled in the Comox Valley to be close to their children and grandchildren. The greatest joy in Shirley’s life was spending time with her family. She looked forward to Sunday dinners and game nights.
Predeceased by her parents, brother William, and loving husband Harold. Survived by her children, Heather (John), Jim (Denise), Wendy (Bill), and her six grandchildren, Laura, Shawn, Shannon, Jenne, Courtenay, and Nick.
A gathering of family and friends in celebration of her life will be held on Sunday June 10th, 2012 from 2pm – 5pm at Shirley and Harold’s home, 557 Haida Street, Comox. Please join us to share some stories and a toast to our loving mother and grandmother, Shirley.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Salvation Army or the C.V. Food Bank.
