The Passing of Sunny Leagh
Born Mary (Marion)Elizabeth Sunny on August 23, 1925 in Janesville, Wisconsin. Sunny moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1956 and then on to the beautiful Comox Valley in 1972. An accomplished physiotherapist and psychologist, she loved camping and skiing in her younger days and was a Senior Table Tennis Champion in her later years.
In between she was a cool friend, energetic soul, free spirit, with the gift of song and was beloved by family and friends.
Her “Fire” song closes this chapter in her life journey.
Fire burned my house today
Taking all my past away
All my souvenirs and fears
All my IF trips down the years.
As I stood and watched the flames,
Devouring all - all remains
Now I am all one at last
With my present future past.
The years have gone and now I know
That fires come and fires go
And from the ashes of each one,
A different life is begun.
Sunny Leagh passed from this world on August 4, 2008, and her remains were cremated. She leaves behind 5 children, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and her many good and faithful friends. She requested that in lieu of a public memorial service and flowers, support be given to the Mouth and Foot Artists.
Sunny asked that we remember her by wearing Bright Colours on her birthday, August 23, to celebrate her life and to plant sweet peas and lilacs, her favorite flowers.
And please remember that tomorrow is “ Another Beautiful Day in the Valley!”
