Born in Vancouver, BC – January 18, 1931
Sylvia Lawseth passed away peacefully on June 17, 2016 in Nanaimo BC after suffering from dementia for a prolonged period. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband William Shaw Lawseth (2012), and is survived by her son Don and spouse Kari Nelson, granddaughter Andrea (fiancé Mike Shaw), great-grandson Jasper Anderson Shaw and niece Marie Kee (nee Heppell).
Sylvia enjoyed her early years and curling with friends in Jasper, Alberta. After a short time in Edmonton, the family moved to Burnaby BC in 1964, where Sylvia continued curling and also took up golf and running.
She and Bill moved to Comox BC in 1982, where she continued to curl, run and golf, and also became an avid Bridge player. Friends, neighbours and family will remember her for her sharp wit and spirited sense of humour. She was a kind, gentle soul.
