January 15, 2019
On January 15, 2019 Verna L. Evans passed away peacefully in the North Island Hospital, Comox Valley Campus.

Verna was born in Winnipeg in 1928. After her marriage to Ronald Erskine in 1949 she moved to Ocean Falls British Columbia, before settling to Campbell River in 1958. She worked as a librarian in the Campbell River branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library until 1971, when she moved to Comox to work in the Comox branch. In 1978, she met and married the love of her life, Robert Evans. They had many happy years together sharing a passion for travel, cooking and gardening until Bob's death in 2004.

After her retirement from the library in 1995 she remained active in the community, volunteering with the MacDonald Wood Park Society, Friends of the Library, and the Comox Seniors' and Seniors' Village libraries until failing health forced her to stop.

Throughout her life she was devout dog-lover and avid gardener. She also derived great satisfaction from baking and knitting for her family and friends.

Verna is survived by her three children, Deb (Ray), Ron and Yvonne (Bill), her three grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie & Alexi and their partners, and her eight much-loved great grandchildren.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations made to the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society would be greatly appreciated.
