Vetta Pearl (Bunny) Metcalfe (nee Zimmer) passed away peacefully after an extended period of poor health, in North Island Hospital Comox Valley on November 18, 2019. Bunny was born Easter weekend 1929 and acquired the nickname that would be with her all her days. She was predeceased by her mother Pearl (following the birth), her father Frederick (1950), half-sister Joyce Easton (2012), half-brother Donald Zimmer (2018), son Tom (2009), surrogate parents and grandparents Fred and Lulu Zimmer who had lost their first child and then had raised five children when they undertook to raise Bunny. She was a compensation for their early loss.
Bunny moved to the West Coast in 1982 from Edmonton and Pigeon Lake, Alberta ultimately settling at the south end of Saratoga Beach. She became a docent at the Campbell River Museum, a role she found greatly rewarding.
She leaves behind granddaughter Kimberly Dobie (Jeramie) of Fort McMurray, grandsons Jeff Metcalfe of Edmonton, Brent Metcalfe of Cheyenne, Wyoming, great grandchildren Isabella, Carson and Sophia and many cousins.
Deep gratitude to her friends for their service and friendship in her final years, especially Jane Peterson and Valerie and Aubrey Ferris.
A private family interment service will be held in the spring in Edmonton.
