March 21, 1937-May 18, 2016

The family of “Ginny” Lillian Virginia Lucille MacInnis (Alaric) regrets to announce her passing on Wednesday, May 18 at the age of 79.

Ginny is survived by Bernard MacInnis, her husband of nearly 59 years and their six children; Cynthia (Eddie), Jo-Ann (Lawrence), Bernie (Vanessa), Belinda (Kevin), Margy (Lou), Kathy (Tom).

Ginny was a warm, loving and patient mother who dedicated herself to raising her family, building a legacy that includes her six children, 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with many more to come. Ginny and Bernard were proud to be part of the Canadian Forces, raising their family on bases across the country, before their final posting and retirement in Comox where they have lived since 1989.

Ginny enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her family and watching her favorite game shows. She was a passionate and talented gardener, often sending home family members with buckets of fresh fruit and veggies from the backyard.

Her famous fruitcake was a beloved holiday tradition that will be passed on to future generations, and many family members will forever cherish the hand made blankets she made every year.

She came from a large family and is survived by three brothers (Bill, Lee, and Les) and two sisters (Peggy and Dorothy). Her father (Walter), mother (Margaret) and nine siblings have passed away.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you consider making a donation to the BCSPCA or the Canadian Red Cross.

Her family will celebrate her life on Friday, June 3 at 11:00am at Comox Valley Funeral Home (1101 Ryan Road) with a reception to follow at the Comox Legion 1825 Comox Ave., Comox.
