Walter passed away on October 23, 2017, sixteen days before his 92nd birthday.
He is predeceased by his wife Waverly, his daughter Cynthia, and his grandson Mark, and is survived by his children Glenna, Connie, Bill, and Becky, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Born November 8, 1925 in Dryden, WA, to Henry and Christine Weber, the sixth of eight children, he grew up helping on the family apple orchard.
After graduating from high school, Walt worked as an orchardist in the Wenatchee Valley and operated a service station in Ritzville, WA. He attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where he studied engineering before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Bible from BIOLA University in Los Angeles in 1956.
Walter and Waverly Jean Breigenzer were married on November 15, 1949.
Skipping his graduation ceremony and celebrations, he, Waverly, and their two young daughters moved from California to Sayward, BC in June of 1956, where they started Calvary Bible Church. He remained as pastor until his death, preaching his last sermon eight days before he died.
Walt found employment with the Salmon River Logging Company, (which was later sold to MacMillan Bloedel and finally Weyerhaeuser), and continued to work for them until his retirement in 1990.
Walt dedicated his life to the service of others, giving generously of his time, energy, and finances - this last usually anonymously.
He was active in the Boy Scouts, the IWA on a local committee level, and the Comox - Strathcona Regional District, serving as the director for Area "H" for many years.
A service to honour and remember this remarkable man will be held at the Heritage Hall in Sayward on Friday, November 3rd at 1:00.
