Passed away peacefully at the age of 92, with his family by his side, on January 15, 2018.

He was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1925 but moved to West Van in 1934.

He is survived by his sister Isobel, brother Bruce (Dolores), his beloved wife of 67 years, Lindy, children Beth, Bob (Heather), Ken (Margaret), Maureen (Gary) and grandchildren Tim, Meghan (Marko), Emily, Molly (Dylan), Dana, Carmen (Peter), Julian, Katey (Brent), Carley, and Ben (Alexis), great-grandchild Luka and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a teacher in Penticton and a school librarian in the Cowichan Valley before becoming school librarian at Vanier from 1972-1983.  He then ran a bookbinding business for another ten years.

Music was always important to Bill and he played the trombone throughout his life, playing in many bands and orchestras including CAMPA Big Band, Quintessence Brass Quintet, and Dem Bones, in the Comox Valley.  A highlight was playing with CAMPA at Expo 86 in Vancouver.

He also sang with a Barbershop Quartet and played Bass Recorder in another group in the Comox Valley.  As well as music and reading, Bill loved gardening, hiking and canoeing, skiing, tennis, travelling, and staying in the cabin he built on Hornby Island that is still enjoyed by the family.

Bill was a family man with a big heart who enjoyed life to the fullest and he is greatly missed.
