It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father. Jack died peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side in Glacier View Lodge, Courtenay, BC. Predeceased by his parents Robert G. Rankin and Johanna Lamb, he leaves to mourn his loving wife of 64 years Betty, his daughter Shelagh (James Kantor), his sister Evelyn Scott (Wayne d.), his sister-in-law Goldie MacDonald (Dalton LaRose), and many nieces and nephews. Jack had a distinguished 33 year career with the RCMP, serving in Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Quebec. Upon his retirement from the force he served for 8 years as Inspector General for Correctional Service Canada. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, boater, hunter and his home away from home was the hunt camp in Calabogie, ON. Thank you to Dr. Anderson and Dr. Wainberg. A very special thank you to the entire staff of Glacier View Lodge who provided outstanding care with compassion. There was much fondness shared with the residents of Glacier View Lodge. Following cremation, the family will accompany Jack for his "last walk across the square", Depot Division, Regina, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Glacier View Lodge would be gratefully appreciated (www.glacierviewlodge.ca).
