Dear editor,
To say that water meters conserve water is a fallacy.
People conserve water. The implementation of residential water meters could lead to privatization.
A new infrastructure would be needed to for maintenance, service billing and reading of these meters. Families or individuals with lower incomes will be impacted most.
The prohibitive effect of residential water meters will not greatly affect the biggest consumers of water. How would unpaid bills be treated?
Cut water supply. Water is essential to life and health it should be accessible to all at all times.
