Thank you to the Comox Valley Record for making a space available to talk about the positive events in our community. I would like to highlight one such event that occurred for me. Wayne Tupper of Tupper Home Health Care has consistently been a source of support, caring and excellence in client service to myself and to others here in Comox Valley. Recently he caught me speechless with his selfless act of amazing generosity and kindness. While he is able to repair most anything, has the knowledge and connections to order or bring in any aid to mobility, and consistently provides the best price for home care supplies — it is his gentle, caring heart that really is the basis of his business. This is an example of why the Comox Valley is the best place to live. Thanks, Wayne, thank you for being a part of making Comox Valley the inclusive, caring place it is!
I read an article on the gentleman who had a incident when leaving his dog in his car. I too had a situation only it wasn't during the day or hot out. It was 10 p.m. and I had soaked my dog down during the hottest part of the day and he was still wet so I decided to finish drying him off we would go to a local park. On my way home I stopped at Shoppers in Courtenay and ran in for a prescription. Now I left the windows open and my old dog who likes to bark at people that come close to the car loves it. Now on my way out of the store I encountered a woman carrying my dog to her car. She was under the influence of something and tried to say my dog was distressed. I feel that this was just another scam and would like to warn others to be aware of it. They'll even steal your pet, heat or no heat. If you leave a window open, people will help themselves to anything in your vehicle. Sad times really. Even in a small town like Courtenay.
Thanks, and extra chocolate cake next time to all those who joined Strathcona Wilderness Institute at the Wilderness Centre at Paradise Meadows to celebrate Parks Day on July 21. Members of the Comox District Mountaineering Club, Comox Valley Ground Search & Rescue, Island Alpine Guides, Friends of Strathcona Park, and BC Parks, along with numerous visitors, enjoyed the day. Special thanks to Thrifty Foods for the donation of the excellent cake, and to artist Brian Buckrell for his talent in showing the beauty of Strathcona Provincial Park.
On the Goose Spit beach, opposite Comox Marina, I picked up five identical brown paper bags containing uneaten food, snacks and fruit as well as left over garbage. They had been left recently and not yet attached by crows or seagulls. Whoever organizes trips to the Spit and provides lunch bags might consider educating their customers to take their garbage with them! Learning outdoor activities should include having some respect for the environment. I am enjoying the five oranges left behind.
I would like to send out a million thank yous to Sarah and her staff at Sunkissed Beauty Bar. Their excellent service and fair prices were much appreciated. They really went above and beyond for two "old" but rejuvenated friends.
