In favour of south sewer project

As a neighbour of the Union Bay/Royston area, I implore you to vote in favour of the June 18 south sewer referendum.

Dear editor,

Please vote YES on June 18!

As a neighbour of the Union Bay/Royston area, I implore you to vote in favour of the June 18 south sewer referendum. Yes, it’s costly, yes there is a cheaper option but that cheaper option will potentially be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. The straw is made of plastic and the camel is the shellfish industry and marine environment. The cheaper option will put the outfall into Baynes Sound which will add more plastics (which cannot all be filtered out) to an already compromised body of water. Microplastics are finding their way into every living marine organism, bio accumulate, attract other carcinogens such as DDT and PBE’s which then end up being consumed. More plastics introduced into Baynes Sound could very well mean an end to the shellfish industry! Please vote wisely.
