Dear editor,

Bruce Uzelman quotes Pierre Poilievre’s “Axe the Tax” refrain and asks, “What will he replace it with?”

(Uzelman: Axe the Tax? The alternatives are much more costly)

Mr. Uzelman states that experts suggest carbon tax is the right choice to get Canada to its 2030 target.

What experts? Name them and show their credentials.

The arguments being presented seem to rely upon opinions of economists but I failed to find any mention of science. I concede that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but they are not entitled to their own facts.

When you put a fire out, what do you replace it with? The logical answer is “nothing.”

If you look at the climate science instead of the climate alarmism, you might reach the same conclusion as the Global Climate Intelligence Group has.

There’s no climate emergency. And the alarmist messaging pushed by global elites is purely political. That’s what 1,608 scientists and informed professionals stated when signed the Global Climate Intelligence Group’s “World Climate Declaration.”

You can do a search and download the 50 page document to study the facts.

But wait, there’s more. Michael Shellenberger, an environmentalist, published the book Apocalypse Never which explains why environmental alarmism hurts us all.

Just these two sources of information should cause many of you to ask “Why do we need to spend money on a non-existent problem”. Great question!

A recent article quoting more unnamed experts claim that climate alarmism is causing increased anxiety in young people. I am no expert, but I suggest telling them the truth might help their anxiety.

Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda minister once said “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

It is called Mass Formation Psychosis, and about 35 per cent of you will continue to believe the lies put forth in this climate change hoax regardless of contrary facts.

Nothing will change your mind unless you learn to think outside the box. If you can’t, we are doomed.

The plan calls for Canada to move from about 1.5 per cent of total global emissions to slightly less than one per cent of total global emissions which will have no measurable effect on climate. It will cost many billions of dollars but it will most certainly have a profound effect on your way of life. I can assure you that you will not like it at all.

You will have nothing and you will not be happy!

Lorne Smith,

Comox
