Dear editor,

This letter is in response to the possible plan to extend the lease to the Connect program across from Courtenay City Hall.

The unhoused, addicted and poorly informed participants in the opioid crisis need crisis intervention including immediate access to health services, housing and income assistance. This program needs to be co-located or located within short walking distances to medical services. Courtenay city council needs to stop ghettoizing the downtown core and start ameliorating our current problems.

Say no to extending the lease to the Connect program. Say yes to a request for proposals to locate similar services close to medical services with a small bus to appropriate and affordable housing and income assistance.

Caroline Trevor,

Courtenay
