Dear editor,

Dear editor,

Regarding the letter to the editor from Pat Carl dated March 11, 2021: (Contrary to what the Providence Living CEO believes, being a member of the LGBTQ+ community is not a lifestyle choice)

I agree I should not have used the word “choices” when asked to address how our new seniors’ care facility would include those who identify as LGBTQIA+. My heartfelt apologies. The letter-writer is completely right.

To reiterate, we do not discriminate on any grounds relative to people’s backgrounds. We respect the diverse identities and experiences of those who live, work and engage with us. We consider it a privilege to care for the individuals who live in our homes, and we work with every resident to understand and respond to their needs.

Jane Murphy,

President & CEO, Providence Living
