Time to stop acting like dead fish

Dear editor,

Over the past months I've sent a number of letters to John Duncan asking for his feedback or opinion or position on some of the many issues of concern with this government.

Thus far, I've received absolutely no response.

Reading some of the letters to the editor and talking to other people, it seems that he hasn't responded to anyone (so I won't take it personally).

It seems that Harper has effectively muzzled our Conservative representatives so that they are not only not allowed to speak in public without strict oversight, they are also not allowed to speak to their constituents — the people they are supposed to be representing.

I am increasingly concerned by the actions of a prime minister who seems bent on silencing all voices except his own — and by the lack of action by those whose job it is to represent us.

I know that especially in this government, it takes courage to stand up and speak. However, to quote the activist J. Hightower, "The opposite of courage is not cowardice, it is conformity. Even a dead fish can go with the flow."

It is well past time to stop acting like dead fish.
