Dear editor,
Having been part of the Y2-K Spitfire restoration team from 2000 to 2008, it was with great joy I witnessed the return of the Comox Y2-K Spitfire.
The gala banquet on Aug. 8 was a superb event and to see the Spitfire in the air over Air Force Beach today was a thrill of a lifetime.
Special thanks has to go out to the Comox Air Force Museum for all the hard work to get the Spitfire home so that all those Vancouver Island supporters could enjoy this fine aircraft.
Special thanks has to go to Terry Chester for all he did to accommodate the former production team and for quarter-backing an incredible once-in-a-lifetime show.
Our motto was, ‘The Comox Y2-K Spitfire will fly again,’ and it did. Thank you.
