Cameron Levins ran a magnificent 10000m race Friday to earn Canada a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
After running in eighth place (in the 26-man field) most of the race, the Black Creek athlete turned on the jets with 300m remaining.
He appeared headed for victory on the home straight before a late challenge from Uganda's Moses Kipsiro and Kenya's Josphat Bett made it a three-way sprint for gold.
Levins led briefly, but Kipsiro caught up with him on the outside and Bett edged by him on the inside, with Kipsiro taking the gold and defending his title in 27:56.11, just 3/100ths of a second ahead of Bett. Levins was an incredibly close third in 27:56.23.
Levins had time to hug his family members who were in attendance at Hampden Park to cheer him on before ascending the podium to receive his medal.
