Juniors, seniors and high school team playing in high-calibre events

Comox Valley golfers have been busy at a number of high-calibre events

At the BC Golf Junior Boys' Championship, July 8-11 at Meadow Gardens Golf Club, Courtenay's Logan Yanick finished in a two-way tie for 28th.

The Crown Isle golfer shot rounds of 75-74-75-74 to finish at 10-over 298. Keaton Gudz of Victoria took top spot with a 5-under 283.

Other Crown Isle golfers competing included Matthew Irvine (Courtenay) who finished in a two-way tie for 65th at 25-over 313. Victor Choi (Comox) and Alexander Webber (Comox) DNF.

At the BC Golf Junior Girls' Championship, July 1-4 at The Dunes in Kamloops, Abigail Rigsby of Courtenay finished 13th. The Crown Isle golfer shot 76-74-79-75 to finish at 12-over 304. Winner Naomi Ko of Victoria finished at 6-under 286.

At the 2014 Mid-Master, Senior & Super Senior Women's, June 17-19 at Vernon Golf & Country Club, Dee Horie of Courtenay finished in a three-way tie for 16th in the Mid-Master division.

The Crown Isle golfer finished at 26-over 248. Jackie Little of Port Alberni won the event with a seven-over 229.

Horie's score placed her seventh in the Super Senior division, where Sheila van Gisbergen of Courtenay was 14th at 54-over 276.

At the B.C. high school championships, May 27-28 at Squamich Valley Golf & Country Club, Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School placed seventh in the AAA division.

The Courtenay squad finished at 46-over 622 with rounds of 306-316. Prince of Wales took the title with a one-over 577 (287-290).

Yanick was fifth overall in individual scoring with a two-over 146 (72-74). Jordan Lu was the individual winner with a 14-under 130 (63-67).
