Comox Valley United wins first game of VISL Div. 1 season

The waiting is finally over for Comox Valley United.

In their 10th game of the Vancouver Island Soccer League Div. 1 season, United broke into the win column and out of the basement with a big 4-1 win over VI Wave on Saturday at Vanier Turf Field.

Phil Ludwig scored twice to power the offence while Tom Butcher and Kyle Bate added one each. Matteo Ventura netted the lone Wave goal. Comox Valley and Saanich are both 1-7-2 and tied for ninth place.

This Sunday United is away to Bays United (7-3-0) who are tied with Cowichan (7-2-0) for top spot.

Things did not go as well for Comox Valley United Div. 3B as they were shelled 6-0 by Saanich in Victoria.

Matthew Turner turned away everything United sent his way while Devon Vivian and Christian de Clare scored two goals each..

United (3-7-1) will be looking to bounce back this Saturday when they host Bays United (5-2-3) in a 4 p.m. start at Vanier Turf Field.
