The Comox Valley U13 T1 team welcomed island hockey teams to their Thanksgiving Day weekend tournament at Glacier Gardens.

“The energy in the arena was electric!” a news release states. “All of the kids played their hearts out and gave a good fight, but in the end Comox took the gold.”

The theme for the tourney was Pink the Rink in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Team members proudly played each game with sticks covered in pink hockey tape and Dressed for the Cause on Sunday.

As part of their give back to the community, the team donated the profits from one of their 50/50 draws to the cancer foundation for research.

The team would like to thank numerous community sponsors and supporters: FN99 New & Used Auto & Truck Parts, Clinic 5, Coastal Mtn Fuels, Busy Bee Apiary, Comox Bike Co, Crown Isle, Comox Valley Dodge, SpeedPro, Get West Adventures, Krystal Stevenson and Design Therapy. A special shout out to Happy’s Source for Sports and Hot Chocolates who both came to the rescue on the long weekend.

We support local because they support us.
