“In concert with the Crown Isle Men’s Club, we believe that we have a crucial role in assisting our Junior Members on life’s journey,” said Crown Isle marketing manager Kristy Pederson, in a press release.

This year the Rick Glanville Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Darrin Lessard on Saturday, Oct. 9. The scholarship is named in memory of Rick Glanville, who was a member of the Crown Isle Men’s Club executive committee when he passed away. This year’s recipient of the scholarship is a graduate of Mark Isfeld Secondary School École Secondaire and is currently attending Camosun College in Victoria in the sport management degree program.

Lessard is a former member of the Crown Isle junior golf program and during the summer of 2021 was a member of the Crown Isle member services team and took on a leadership role. After completing his degree, Darrin has indicated that a dream job would be to return to Crown Isle as a member of the golf professional staff.

The 2020 winner of the scholarship was Cole Kostiuk, who is in his second year of engineering at the University of Victoria.

The Crown Isle Men’s Club provides this scholarship in an effort to support Crown Isle junior golfers to pursue post-secondary education and remain committed to their involvement in and promotion of golf.

“This is one more way that the Men’s Club can support exceptional young male golfers to succeed in golf and their future careers,” said current Crown Isle men’s captain, Ken MacRae.
