CVRD seeking input on indoor recreational facilities

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) would like to hear from you regarding the future of the CVRD’s indoor recreation facilities.

The CVRD has three major indoor facilities, the sports centre, the aquatic centre and the curling centre, and has commenced the development of an Indoor Recreation Facilities Master Plan that looks at the long term future of the region in the context of its changing environment, demography, emerging priorities and needs for indoor recreation facilities and spaces.

The project commenced in October 2016, with the engagement of a consulting team to lead the development of the master plan by conducting a public survey, as well as a number of interviews and discussions with facility patrons and user groups.

Residents are encouraged to participate in one or more of the options for community input. Focus groups with facility users will take place the week of Jan. 16, along with interviews and discussions with stakeholders. The second phase includes community workshops which will be held in February, and open houses held in March. Information is also being collected through an online community survey. The survey link, as well as session dates and locations, are available at www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/recmasterplan

The draft master plan will be completed in early April 2017 and then be presented to local municipal councils and the CVRD board.
