The Marine Harvest Upper Island Riptide U14 and U16 girls both defeated teams from North Vancouver in Coastal Cup quarter-final matches Saturday in Courtenay.
The U14s scored late in the game to tie the score 1-1, and went on to beat the Renegades in penalty shots. The U16s were down 4-2 in the second half of their game, but managed to tie it in regulation and win 5-4 in extra time.
Coastal Cup finals are May 6 and 7 in Aldergrove. Both Riptide sides, and the U15 boys, compete at provincials July in Surrey.
