The Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club got off to a good start in events around the Zone, but Parksville took over the Nanaimo Centennial Fours as the Gary Robinson team handed the Vern Greenhill machine their only loss for fifth place.
Robinson won all four of his games by one point only to win the tournament. The competition was very close. Three other Parksville teams were in the money.
The seminar with Steve Forrest, June 2-3, has been cancelled due to no registrants.
Locally, this next week of June 5 will start the leagues and games chair Pete Harding has the schedules posted at the clubhouse.
Mens and Ladies Pairs on Tuesday and the Wednesday Mixed league on Wednesday. Start times are 6:15 p.m.
Coming up, Vern Greenhill, Rick Quibell and Chad Kelly will compete in the Sea Soil Men’s Triples at Parksville June 2-3. Pat Cutt, Melie Ursulom and Irene Whitehouse will be off to Maple Ridge for the Provincial Senior Ladies Triples June 11-13.
Members are encouraged to sign up for the Interclub League on ever second Monday. This is a fun event and good experience for newer bowlers to play on different greens and meet other bowlers without the stress of serious competition.
We travel to Parksville twice, Qualicum twice, Nanaimo once and we host once. When we have many names, we will be looking at those who travel to have first choice on the home games.
